Visiting South Kensington
Imperial has nine campuses, with the main campus where the majority of our public events take place situated in South Kensington on the site where the original College was founded in 1907. South Kensington is the heart of 'Abertopolis', a vision by Prince Albert and Sir Henry Cole to dedicate an area of London to science, education and the arts.
As a result, our South Kensington campus is surrounded by some of London's most famous cultural treasures, including:
Check out other local institutions and cultural hotspots via the Exhibition Road Cultural Group (ERCG) website.
South Kensington is prime sightseeing land, so you may find yourself rubbing shoulders with tourists on Exhibition Road on the approach to campus. Unlike the tourists though, you have the advantage of being able to visit these attractions at your leisure while taking lunch or as a break from study. We are also central enough to be within easy reach of everything London has to offer without sacrificing access to the great outdoors that comes with having Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens on your doorstep.
Catering on campus
Taste Imperial, the College's Catering department, provides fresh food and drink to over 20 outlets across three of Imperial's campuses for students, staff and visitors in addition to operating a restaurant and bar and a retail store. With an experienced and dedicated team of staff, Taste Imperial aim to provide not just good food, but excellent customer service and quality facilities which reflect Imperial's standing as a top-ten world university.
